The Enterprise Lions Club was chartered on July 7, 1944, in Enterprise, Alabama, and has a long history of service to the community.  Charter night was held on September 1, 1944, with thirty charter members.  Over the years the club has supported many charities and made donations to important community projects.  It is our goal to serve the community in the same ways today.   During the first 80 years, we have donated to the newly established Enterprise State Junior College, helped with Enterprise High School projects, collected and donated eyeglasses, sponsored other local Lions Clubs, donated to Boy Scouts, the Rescue Squad, Camp Seale Harris, and Alabama Lions Sight among many other local charities and projects.  Most of the above-mentioned charities continue to be supported today through our Christmas Auction, two Pancake breakfasts, the Lions Den (our mobile food truck), and the Boll Weevil 100 bike ride.

Serving Our community

The Enterprise Lions Club is composed of members of the community - business owners, retired military and their spouses, educators, health care professionals, anyone with a heart for service.

Helen Keller asked the Lions Club to be "the knights of the blind".  She noted, ""Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.."  The Enterprise Lions Club embodies both of those challenges - we work together to build a better community, and to help the visually impaired.  Come join us!

Membership in the world's largest and most active service club organization is a privilege.

The Enterprise Lions Club is a group of people bonded together to do things that you and I cannot do as individuals. In fact, the motto of Lions Clubs International and of this club is, WE SERVE. As you progress in Lionism, you will get that great satisfaction that comes from helping others in this community, and having fun while doing it. Our club supports vision care for those who could not otherwise afford it, and donates to Camp Seale Harris (a camp for children with diabetes), to Lions Sight in Birmingham, to local organizations like CERT, Coffee County Family Services, Enterprise Public Library,  the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, and other organizations that apply for funds. This kind of humanitarian work would not be possible unless individuals were willing to give of their time and energy in service to others.

The rewards of membership are great. You will be warmed by the thanks of the people you help and by the community in which you serve. Above all, you will find in your Lions club the medium through which you can express the goodwill that is in your heart.

The International Association of Lions Club was conceived at a meeting held on June 7, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, under the sponsorship of its founder, Melvin Jones. The first annual convention was held on October 8-10, 1917, in Dallas, Texas, with 23 clubs participating. It is now a fellowship of over 1.5 million service-minded men and women in over 43,000 clubs in 185 countries.

Now our past is history. Today we ask you to take up the torch of Lionism, to help make this world a better place for all mankind.

WE ASK YOU TO SERVE.
